Story
Ice-T, born Tracy Lauren Marrow on February 16, 1958 in Newark, New Jersey, is an American rapper and actor. He launched his career as a rapper in the early 1980s, signed to Sire Records in 1987 and released his first album Rhyme Pays, the first hip-hop album released with the label parental warning. The following year, he founded his own label Rhyme $yndicate Records (named after his hip-hop collective Rhyme $yndicate) and released another album, Power.
He was one of the founders of the heavy metal band Body Count, which first performed on his 1991 album O.G.: Original Gangster. Body Count released its namesake album in 1992. Ice-T made the controversy with his song Cop Killer in 1992, perceived by the specialized press and the public as an incitement to aggression towards police officers. Ice-T asked for the end of his contract with Warner Bros. Records, and his next album, Home Invasion, was released in February 1993 on Priority Records. Body Count's second album, Born Dead, was released in 1994, and Ice-T released two more albums in the late 1990s.
Since 2000, he has played the role of Detective Odafin Tutuola in the police series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit
